I have a Jaycar kit and have made it up, it is brand new I don't need it so If you are interested send me an email and you can have it for cost $49.95. I have used jaycar kits before and have found them brilliant.

1 - You asked about GPS so I assume you dont have one? If so how do you know the speedo is out?

2 - Max is right, the defender gear will bring the ratio back to factory

I say this because my disco running 32s was spot on on the speedo as opposed to 10% under when stock.

Having just had my instrument cluster thingo out of my 1994 Disco I can say that they have an electronic speedo.

I used the Jaycar unit in my previous Rodeo with excellent results. I also installed a switch so I could go from standard tyres to play tyres.

I'll fit one of these again when I get bigger play tyres.

I do have a GPS but it's normally wired into the 90. I used it to check the speedo in the Disco and it's showing 92 kph at 100kph on the GPS. My wife would rather have the speedo adjusted... so I guess I'd better.

Is changing the speedo gear to the Defender gear still an option on the 97's? I can see a transducer but is there still a gear in the t/case on a 97 and how easy is it to change?

Neither of the Marks electronic speedo correction boxes would work with my 98 disco I.

I don't know about the Jaykar kits. The truespeed unit is one which will work.
