I just got my exhaust manifold replaced, 2 broken studs. I should have got it fixed when the symptoms started instead of leaving it. It got worse I think and broke the second stud. We drilled out the manifold holes except the middle one as the studs didn't have a lot of room. The manifold was warped and had to be shaved as well. Hoping I won't have any problems again. I was told even though I regularily change the air cleaner to change it often as a dirty filter will increase the exhaust gas temperature and may cause the above problems. Just some advice from a diesel specialist in town here.
Cheers
Scott
Thanks Scott will keep an eye on the filter as well.
cheers Jeff
Well found out what the whisle was today, when the turbo
let go. Plumes of smoke, grinding noises, & the motor wouldnt
shut down. It reved its guts out till I dumped the clutch &
stalled it. Turns out it was running on the engine oil.
Glad it isnt an auto as it would have self destructed as mine
almost did as I was slow to know what to do.
I sh*t myself when it started revving by its self.
So now the repairs begin 2morrow as Im sick of that car
this week. Oil in loom was tuesdays problem, then the whisle
now this. Can see why people move to other brands.
I live near Marg. River & no mechanic here knows or wants to
know anything about Landys, it sucks!!
come on lotto:) cheers Jeff
That isn't good news at all.
I have heard of that issue before, a search may yield results.
As said above by Big John I've heard of this before and this really scares the ***** out of me.
Could the mechanic's here jump in and explain why this frightening problem happens and how the hell do I stall my Auto TD5 before it self destructs if this happens to me.:o
Thanks in advance for any replies.
AK i really dont know what you could do in this situation,
i havent had a chance to ask any mechanic what you
would do, as you said hopefully some of the guys here
can help with this question.. Oh & how to clean the
intercooler as well..
Jeff
sorry to hear Jeff:(, does this mean you will have to put your plates on the buggy to get around?:D
If you get an engine run away your best bet is to starve it of air. Don't use your hand from what I have heard.
