    Yes they are a fiar bit lighter and my Disco is a bit fat when loaded but I wouldnt trust it as much as a steel but then again It would probably not damage the chassis as much If I did hit something but the cracks in the skirt do worry me as well.

    Hi ,

    I believe TJM alloy have a steel cradle for winch fitment and ECB winch bar also uses steel frame for the winch . But recovery point under the chasis will still put stress on the bar's skirt as one cannot put a recovery point on the alloy bar itself , right ?

    On my TJM as per the picks Ive posted somewhere, has no steel cradle built in, you have to buy it seperatly and my recovery points are steel brackets that the bar then bolts to.

    When I do fit the new cradle I will fit 2 recovery loops in through the front of the bar and bolted up to the inside of the cradle so that all the load is distributed evenly accross the front of the vehical.

    When I first bought my Disco, I hit a huge roo on the nullarbor and did $7000 worth of damage all down the left hand side. I still thank my lucky stars that he didn't hit the radiator, or we would still be out there.

    When I got home, the panel beater told me that he has never had to replace a poly bar and that the aluminium bars are useless - over-priced and weak on impact. To my question about an ARB bar, he said that they were OK; I liked the idea of the air bag compatibility. I saved up all my biccies and eventually bought one, since then I have hit two roos, only two blocks away from my house - no damage at all

    Best accessory I have ever bought!
