Changing Front Housing on D2 Transfer Case

Thanks to Ladas, i have finally got a front output housing with CDL for a reasonable price. Now comes the fun part, pulling my existing one out.

Could i ask you very knowledgeable and helpfull Aulro'ians for a bit of advice on the easiest way to do the change over.

Also, my existing TC does'nt have the switch wired into the loom to indicate when CDL is activated, i've had a bit of a poke around the wiring and found two red wires next to the hi/low switch which have been blanked off, am i right in saying i can join these two wires and i should see the diff lock warning on the dash? or am i gonna start blowing fuses?

In relation to the wires, one of them should be carrying 12v with ignition on - check with a multimeter - from the dash fusebox. If there is power, and when you do connect them no light comes on, it may be that the little bulb is missing from the dash. As to changing over the housing, I vote for taking the handbrake drum off, unbolting the TC and doing the changeover on a table. It's sort of cramped around the output housing, and whilst not impossible to take off in situ, I've learnt that it's always easier when you are vertical and can see what you are doing.

The diff lock wires to where the switch should go, are not red

One is black, the other is black/blue

I left my change over to the experts. Per the previous post, they took the TC out to work on it - much easier.

Also as you are changing the housing there is pre-set adjustment needed in the diff (what ever that is).
