    TD5 running on 4

    Tonight the TD5 developed a bad miss and lack of power. It sounds and
    feels as if one cylinder is out. I removed the acoustic cover but
    couldn't see anything amiss. After resting for an hour or so it
    started and idled normally, but after a stab on the accelerator pedal
    the miss was back. Any ideas?

    G'day Stephen,
    Souds like the dreaded oil in loom, quick check to see if the oil has made it to the ECU, with keys out of ignition, disconnect the plugs in the engine ECU atop your battery box. See if drips oil or if there is oil already in the bottom of the tray.

    Somebody also had one with a broken spring in an injector,possibly Frenchie.My no1 guess is oil in the loom.

    my boss had the same problem with his defender. i might be way of the track but his was something to do with a harness it wasn't much to fix though.

    Yip i am with every one else... injector loom replacing time and main loom cleaning time ????'search injector loom
    did mine a couple weeks ago and it runs alot better now,,had similar probs to yours cost under 200 and is easy to do

    more than likely its the harness but dont forget to consider the throttle position sensor if its inflictable by giving it a rev.

    the problem starts at the other side of the harness...

    by the time it gets to the ECU its too late...

    your first port of call is the plug on the drivers side front of the engine under the rocker housing

    Unplugged that and it seems ok. Ran my finger across both connecting faces and no visible oil. Should it be obviously oily if leaking?
