Thread: What brand/part no is this socket

I think it is an Eaton-Yale-Towne or whatever they call their electrical dvn. nowadays. We fitted a few of them as buddy plugs for a coal mine whose engineer did not like Caterpillar or the local Caterpillar dealer. Just about everyome else in the industry specified Caterpillar buddy plugs.

When I bought my Disco it came with a Chescold 3-way fridge. The 12v socket on the fridge was one of those. The previous owner was an electrician but I don't know if he retrofitted it or if it came with it.

The screw on cap and rugged construction suggests it is sold into the commercial market. Not the normal auto electrical store item I'd think.

Dunno, but it looks like a 3 pin xlr would fit.

Nope, it's not XLR - I have those in my electronics spares.

Not DIN either.

Hmmm. The car came from Singleton and was serviced at Jerry'S Plains so the owner may have been in the coal industry.

Unfortunately, the car is in Derby (and the daughter who drives it is currently in Vietnam) so I can't remove a socket to look for part nos. or a manufacturer's name.

I assume the plug screws in as well.

Maybe I'll check with TJM (they are local) just in case.
