There is another mechanic/lr repair shop in between Ringwood and Nunawading - can't recall the name just now, WayneP uses them and said they are pretty good.
I don't know of anyone near where you are.

Your air filter can also cause this problem. Happened to me last year. Just no power under load. When I checked the air filter it had tried to suck it in. Once it was crushed it couldn't go back so became a restriction.
I had an Intercooler hose do the same on my 200 Tdi, after I had finished laughing at the Landrover Parts dude when he quoted me a price, over $300, for 38 CM of rubber, I went to my local exhaust fitter.
They bent me up a short bit of 55mm tube and flared the ends out to 60mm.
2 bits of straight 60mm silicone hose and 4 TClamps later I was out of pocket a hundred bucks.
I love my car but it's hard to be loyal with what seems to be to a spare parts price gouge.

Any news on the silicon hoses you are importing? Wouldnt mind changing mine to the new ones before my next large trip (sept).

Don't know much about the different configerations,
but from an older post this mob, have very respectably priced silicone turbo, 90 deg and straight to intercooler hoses, to suit a tdi disco,
90deg 51mm, $34, straight hose $15,
its all on the website.

then search the listings, that have prices on them, they are in hornsby, and this trip down i am definatley getting a set.

I'm in the process right now of getting quotes to make up alloy inter cooler pipes for the TD5 Defender. They also have my spare top radiator hose to measure up and make an alloy one of them. The plan is to replace them all slowly so I only need small joiners that should be available anywhere. Once it's done I will post pics and let you all know what it cost.
