From what I recall, there are caliper kits available that put a spacer between the two halves to give the correct wicth for vented discs. The discs themselves should be a straight bolt on conversion.
Is there any info out there on converting Solid Disc Rotors on a 93 Disco to later model Ventilated Disc Rotors and calipers, can this be done or do you have to buy a conversion kit for the Calipers and Discs, thanks in advance, Regards Frank.

Big Jon, thanks, I'll check it out, I believe Coopers have a kit, has anyone used it, Regards Frank.
Coopers have a spacer kit for $350, consists of 4 small spacers with 3 holes in each, 8 bolts (longer), and some O rings, bit rich for me, will knock up myself a set for about $20 to $30, Regards Frank.
Triumph Rover Spares in Adelaide have a conversion kit which I fitted to my '88 RangeRover which supplies the spacers, seals, bolts and so on and a pair of ventilated rotors which are brand new but manufactured locally (I believe). This kit may well also fit the early Discoveries, or Ian may now have an updated version of it to suit them.
I found the original solid rotors faded extremely badly under heavy braking, especially when towing a camper trailer. The ventilated rotors (two faces separated with an air gap as fitted to later model Classic Rangies, I believe) were a huge improvement and I never experienced brake-fade (or brown-trouser moments) again after fitting them.
The conversion is on my to-do list for my current Disco when capital-expenditure funding becomes available.

I thought the same thing when it came to the brakes on my Disco but instead of standard disc's I put grooved disc's and EBC green stuff pads on it and even thou the disc's are still solid the braking performance is very much improved. Pat
Pat, even though my standard 93 Disco brakes are in excellent condition I still found that I was boiling the brake fluid and melting the rubber dust caps on the bleed nipples, I do a fair bit of high country driving around here. I have an Auto ZF box and with 4.11 gearing it is very good down hills (very steep), until 1 day the brake pedal went to the floor and no amount of pumping would bring it back, down a very steep hill, I was in second and was about to drop into first and went to use the brake to slow a bit, because the auto wont go into first if the speed is too high, which it was, when the brakes went West, the fluid had boiled in the calipers, the fluid was only 3 months old. So I have changed the fluid and haven't had the problem since, but I will be changing my fluid every 3 months now, until I can get some Ventilated discs. Does the next model Disco with ventilated brakes bolt on to my 93 Disco (June 93 build), I guess I should start looking for some, Thanks again, Regards Frank.
Frank you should fill your brakes with one of the high temp fluids, like race car fluid. If it is boiling the fluid that is what you want.Ebc also sell a pad to suit that type of heavy braking.Let us know how you get on. Pat
Pat, thanks mate, the brake fluid was High quality Dot 4 hi-temp, I will get some race car fluid. It amazed me that the Discs got hot enough to boil the fluid, I wasn't using the brakes excessively, there was a later model Disco (auto) with me (with vented Discs) and he had no problems at all, Regards Frank.
