Ruslan, thanks for your suggestions, I've added some responses above.

rolling downhill at 60 the torque convertor lock isnt on so should be down at 1200rpm or less i would think... mine does this on the flat.. when i ease off the loud pedal to maintain speed.. the only time it doesnt is if i have it in 3rd (accidentally) then the engine braking is more apparent (well its actually there!)

The difference between my driving style and my wifes (onroad anyhow) is 2-3L/100km...

She's smoother onroad than I am... I accelerate harder etc than she does around town...

Offroads a different story.... She's Nucking Futs....:cool:

Remember, it's all about drag... The faster you go, the greater the drag (relatively), given that Land Rovers have the aerodynamic efficiency of a house brick...

get your wheel alignment checked.
for a while i was getting 14/100 from my 90 but at the time ide added alot of extras to it, upgraded I/C, detroit locker and true track lsd and a set of 285 75 R16 MT117 sports! so i thought ide have to live with 14's!
not the case! it ended up being the toe setting by blowrepairs was way out! now that all the caster and toe is at factory specs, ive been averaging 10.5/100 ever since and thats with the ecu upgrades!

I have been doing a few runs from wollongong to gold coast and return averaged around 11.8 this was when the winds and rain were about and doing about 5 km above posted limit sometimes higher no cops about at night during the week,and the truckies know where they sit plus followed one doing 125 so I guess something was'nt working on his truck;) and the last trip was tuesday night towing a trailer with my tools in and disco loaded in the rear with gear traveling around 100km's on highway did around 13.5ltr/100k,s bigger intercooler BD chip,265/75/16 tyres 4.11 diff ratio's and at 100 km doing 2395 RPM I cannot remember what it used to do but I think it used to sit at 2200rpm.

Any one here know what the standard ones do in the RPM's at 100 km's

Interesting figures, My math may be out but I only seem to get between 590 to 630 a tank on my 04 defender. I know it's a brick and the figure given are through varying speed but most probably 90's to 105kmh. Any thoughts.
Tank on the defender is 75 usuable

Haven't had my disco long enough to work its econo out yet, but when I had a TD Rocky driving along the Strzelecki track driving at 70-80kph I achieved 36mpg compared to 28mpg at 90kph on Hwy.
36mpg = just under 8l/100k's
Just recorded 10.8l/100km or 26mpg. on a return trip from ACT to Temora. Mostly hilly country using cruise control (manual trans) driving at speed limit.163,000k's on the clock.

In NSW - I am pretty sure that ALL the fuel comes from either the Shell or Caltex Refineries. Can't remember who BP has product sharing arangements with (I think it might be Shell?). Either way, there is no REAL "BP" fuel in NSW.
