Thread: Technical info ?

    Thumbs up Technical info ?

    Just a small whinge.
I keep seeing threads where members will ask for info or ask for recommendations of products and the replies go something like this:

What springs do people think I should fit to my Bushbasher s2 ?

Reply: Lovell springs, bilstein shocks, with yellow bushes.

Not very helpful, why fit them ? Was it just because they were the first ones you saw in a mag ? or is it because that's what you sell ?
This is a Tech' chatter forum, please add some Tech.

Well then I would word my question differently

"What springs do you people think I should fit to my Bushbasher s2, and what made you choose the make model you have, did they meet your expectation, any issues I should look out for? "

You will only get answers to the questions you ask, so ask the right question.

    Just a small winge

Or better still utilise the SEARCH FORUM function...

People get short sharp sweet answers because we've all worn our fingers out typing the same answers day in day out!!!

    double ditto !!

there is an absolute wealth of tech knowledge in the archives, if one actually cared to do a search.
There are some pretty switched on people on here, but as Tombraider suggested, most are just tired of seeing the same bloody posts every second day asking exactly the same thing, sometimes only half a dozen threads apart.

I sometimes have to restrain myself otherwise it would become like Pirate on here, or maybe I'm just a grumpy old bitter and twisted ba$#ard.

I was guilty of the tyres and wheel question the other day but I did search the forums.I went to the common threads forum looked up wheel and tyres and it just kept kicking me back to the home page.I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong if I am let me know.I have spent hours going thru this site and have learnt heaps.
    Thanks Pete

A suggestion to "solve" the problem:

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread.php't=39774

I think part of the problem is that newcomers need a chance to discuss each common issue. Having a perpetually open thread would allow the oldtimers (anyone here since 1970 ) to have their say once, while every newcomer can also say whether they prefer buckshots to mudders.

and if you have a load of time on your hands, i have plenty i can occupy you with sorting out and cleaning up old threads...
