OK, so it seems it is normal to tick while the ignition is off but why does it need to draw power while the engine is not running?
mine does it to and i i have allways wondered what is was.
Thank goodness you have all come out about this. I have not slept  for weeks wondering about this, the zoink zoink zoink noise plagues me through the darkest hours. I thought it was all in my head, my land rover talking to me just like like before I started the new medication. I have been afraid to tell anyone for fear of being put away... again...
Relieved,
Dave
things that tick eventually go BOOM
I cant believe There is no answer yet. from us maybe but the experts ??
I have phoned Wabco, Landrover (adelaide and melbourne dealers) and a couple of good non dealer Landrover people,, and Cant get an explanation as to why the ABS Modulator Zoinks.
Most of them said they have never heard of it happening, most thought it was weird, and only Wabco offered to look into it deeper.:o
I have to email a bloke at a Wabco Australia dealer, and he will contact one of the engineers in europe:eek:
When I got home from work I can say that the larger ABS fuse and the ABS relay under the bonnet being removed does not stop the zoink,, remove the Small under bonnet ABS fuse (F11) and the noise stops. I am going to have a look at the elec diagrams tonight and see what is tapped off F11.:)
Be interested to see if you dig anything up! It does sound a vaguely mechanical sound and if anything is moving I guess something is wearing out?

Something under pressure maybe?
I have recently purchased a 2000 TD5 and noticed the ABS unit (WABCO) whirring, ticking, some sort of noise also. I dont know the history on the battery but that went flat straight after purchasing the car, and I have now placed a new battery in it. I am hoping for an answer to the sound from the ABS unit, and hope that it is not drawing current from the battery as this will be worrying. Hope someone can help???????????
