Not exactly,
My rangie has been factory EFi for 5l
Then turboed
then after market injection
now N/A 351, soon to be blown
I've just fitted an LS1 to my jag
Plus 1 or 20 more conversions;)
You CAN run a Gen 3 with a ZF, but you'll need to toughen it up somewhat, there is pro's and cons with either the T700 (4l60 or 80) and the ZF, the ZF is definetaly easier as its already there, just need to spend some bucks on it
The T700 is the pick on the other hand, much cheaper for hipo stuff and a better transmission alround, with deaper 1st and better overdrive, and if you get keen enough to use the electronic with the GEN3 you have fune tunebility on the transmission, problem is, you have to move your tranfer case make shifter links and cables, mod tailshafts.......
Aggh, your trying to do it the other way around, with your 4wd the transfer case HAS a drive on it and you need only convert to electonic pulse;)
what you need is an X-box which is essentailly a variable drive, driven to the right speed with your electonic signal as an input......**** that:D
What I have done with my jag, is send the speedo of to howardinstruments.com to get a new electonic VDO speedo built into the smiths gauge....unfortunetally its nearly been a month now:( (and i'm only waiting on that before i can tune it:(:()when they said 2 weeks, but ask me shortly and i'll let you know how well it goes......by the way, its a shade under 500;) where an X-box is like 850 and you still have that crappy smiths bounce:o
When I was pricing up a Holden V6 conversion to my triton, I found that Marks had all the speed sensors and the like, Ringwood speedos also have the electronic speedo kits for mechanical speedos.
Im going back about 7 or 8 years though, I dont even know if ringwood speedos are still around but Marks certainly is.
6,5rangie is putting 1 in......he's watching this thread now I bet:D
Yeah, i think we posted at the same time, as soon as my post was up, I read yours.
Thats what I was thinking about.
Sure am:D
Now heres the problem, its very hard to get a T700 to LT230 adapter, apparently someone in suoth africa does them.
Second the 4L60E that marks do is for an older style 4 speed (like a t400) not the box that comes in commodores, some importers get them in at a price and if you need parts you will have to import them:(
