If I was towing, I'd definitely go diesel.
I've seen 30 litres/100km when towing with the Rangie.

I caught my mother red handed today doing something very naughty...she "secretly" went out and looked at a 2001 Discovery, in V8 automatic. I'm quite scared as she is NEVER this decisive and we are frightfully close to having another Disco leaking on the driveway and using ridiculous amounts of fuel.
She also spoke to a crowd about instruction/training in towing... I can see where this is going
What are others getting economy wise when towing their camper/caravan?

Hi
I would like to tell how far I got on my new long range tank on my 07 Discovery diesel, but when I went to fill it the fuel went all over the ground.
HHHMMMMMit would be a good idea to connect the filler neck to the tank.
Back to the garage I go.
cheers

What would life be without a Rangie?
Joel,
Probably depends on what you are towing...
But out on the open highway towing my camper trailer ( around a tonne) 16ltr/100km
But don't ask me about round town..... you don't want to know..

My D2 V8 Auto gives between 18 and 19 litres/100km towing a Jayco Penguin Outback camper trailer. On a recent trip from Canberra around SA and Victoria, with a mix of freeway, country roads, and some city driving it averaged 18.46. Much of the trip was 110 kph. It averages 16 litres/100km without the trailer, so a small van makes little difference. Can't speak for a large van.
Cheers.
Hi,
MY2003 TD5 with Back loaded up 70 litre fridge/equipment plus 2,500 kg loaded off road van on the back. 14-15 litres 100klms average.
