G'day Disco Dave:)
On the Series 1 there are 3 wires that come out of each headlamp, 1 Blue with a White Tracer, 1 Blue with a Red tracer, and 1 Black a little thinner, the Black one is the Earth, the wiring enters the Radiator Panel from the right, the connectors are on the R/H inner Guard, they go across behind the grille to the L/H light, check each and ALL connectors (bullet type) and clean with a brass or wire brush. To remove the Headlight from the vehicle, undo the chrome ring securing ring and Prise off, then, with the inner chrome ring and lens exposed, PRESS IN and 1/4 turn that will free the Semi-Sealed beam unit WITHOUT affecting the Adjustment, To Remove the Bulb, press and rotate the inner socket 1/4 turn, the Bulb inside will be a "British Pre Focus Type "Lucas 450", 12v 40/45Watt, from memory should still be available from most good spares shops
Hope that helps
cheers
:lol2:
Thanks for the tips everyone.
jimbo110 - sounds good but that manual won't load for me.
UncleHo - G'day mate, thanks for those details. I should be able to take care of it now.:)
Oh yes... inspection passed! A little more paperwork then I should be all good to apply for the Historic Rego. :D
That's great news.
I remember when I took my series 2a for a roadworthy for rego. The mechanic said he had to fail the headlights. The then young and cocky me said "what for, they work don't they"?
He said look at the reflectors, they were completely rusted through .
I was a real goose on that one (and have been many times since!).
My nick name was changed from goose to geese, don't understand why.
