Hand Winch.

PTO.
Just got a 8000lb thomas PTO for mine:D, now I need to fit the thing, and make the intercooler and bullbar fit around/ behind it.:(
The good thing about these PTO winches is that they also have a crankhandle facility.....Two winches in one really.
And they are dead simple in construction.

Bloody laptop keyboard - and 3 glasses of red wine....

[QUOTE=timaus13;580374]Hello all I am in a bit of a bind, do I buy a hand winch or an electric???
Hand winches like the Tirfor are really versatile, probably the reason the Army has them as standard equipment on Recovery vehicles. Nobody like using them, but nobody likes being stuck either.
My fantasy setup is to have a Hayman Reece receiver in my Roobar and to have an electric winch that can slot in at either end as required.
I bent a Tirfor handle righting a rolled M816 once......

we need to talk.......
once a upon a time I did up a version of this using a maritime electric capstan and a duo of singe sheeves with a disconnectable bar with 3 other singles on it...
Ran it on 12mm sheet line and you could reeve it for speed or power, providing the drives arent dead I might even still have the plans for it..
