I've been paying $35/4 litres at the Tamworth depot for Caltex Extended Life Coolant (concentrate). $14/litre is a bit exxy.

My 2003 v8 Disco has around 75,000 on her and I have been looking at changing the Coolant.
I have had her for 18 months and I not know when it was the last time it was ever changed. The colour of it is getting to a pale orange colour. So I am thinking I might as well change it.
I am thinking along the lines of removing the bottom hose draining as much as I can and reflush. Refilling with Havoline XLC (orange) and running the heater to get air locks out.
Looking at the LR handbook it states that cooling system requires 13L and cooling system refill requires 7.5L.
I looked at the Havoline XLC from a local Caltex servo and at $14 per litre and using 50/50 mix I will need a few. I am going to add the XLC to Demineralised Water also.
So how much XLC do I need? Does $14 per litre sound right?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Caltex, Havoline and CAT ELC are the same product. The CAT comes in a 20L drum for about $90 as a 50/50 premix.

I think you might find that the CAT ELC has a couple if extra SCA''s (supplementary coolant additives) in it, but
yes, it is basically the same stuff and made by Chevron-Texaco.
From the research I did and from the MSDS for each product they would appear to be identical. Some O.A.T. coolants do have additional additives (e.g. the Toyota branded one), however, I could find nothing to indicate this was the case with CAT or Caltex ELC and they are also listed as direct substitutes for each other.

I'm only going off what I was told by a CAT lab bloke years ago. (Butler Labs in the US)
At the time it was claimed that Texaco OAT or 'Dexcool' shouldn't be used in diesels due to it's supposed inability to prevent cavitation erosion compared to a HOAT or silicate laden coolant. His argument against the naysayers was that if it was good enough for CAT, it should be good enough for any diesel, and the product specs bear this out.
<edit> actually did a quick check and it's a nitrite additive in the CAT coolant, no biggie if you mix them </edit>
