99 D1 Auto fluid check help
I noticed the last few days the D1 was a little hesitant driving off when cold. I checked the auto fluid level (when cold), in P whilst idling, and found no fluid on the stick. So I purchased 10ltr of Valvoline ATF (dex 3), put about 300ml into the dip stick. Now I cant tell by looking at the dipstick how much oil I have as there isnt a clear line, just a smudge of oil running up the dipstick (unlike engine level check where is a sharp oil level).
So my question is, how do you accurately measure the oil level, and why was there no oil, then oil showing after such a small amount?
Im scared to drive it now in case its overfilled, or if its not filled enough!!!

Howdy C
Just be patient, it will drop slowly down, and don't forget to shift between gears a few times, then back to park to check. When we do trans services, it takes a while for the level to be 'stable' enough to verify it is correct. One more thing, from bottom of stick to full is only around 600 to 700ml.

Thanks J. I may look at bringing it around to you to do a full auto trans service on it. I bought the oil as ive said, but I want to get it done. Talk to you about it when I see you next.
