    series I 107" Tray

    G'day all,

Does anyone have pictures, or know what the rear tub of a 107" Series I looked like? apparently the Oz ones rarely had the Land Rover type and had some wooden verison.

    Any Ideas ??

G'day All, I have to agree with Post No2, they are all I've seen, but having said that I have seen some home made types (wooden trays), I think some of the early Series 2 109" had wooden trays, but I'm sure people like JDNSW, Brian H, and Uncle Ho would be able to put the record straight, cheers Dennis

Thomas looks like post 2, and as Dinty said, there were a number around with tray bodies fitted and these were invariably wooden. Troll back to last Sundays posts for pics of Thomas.

Most of the ones I have seen were as in Isuzurover's picture, but quite a few were converted to flatbed trays, usually wooden, at some time during their life, often because the 107* tray was not nearly as robust as the Series 2/2a/3 rear body, and was relatively expensive to repair. Although I believe that the Series 1 was available as cab/chassis which could have been fitted from new with a trayback, I don't remember ever seeing any. Sales of new trayback utes including Landrovers, did not pick up until the start of the 1960s.

*The body style remained the same when the wheelbase went to 109" in 1956, so the description applies to both 107 and 109 Series 1 Landrovers

    107's

You're not wanting to get rid of a chassis are you? As the one on Thomas is a tad rusty.
