Well, I don't have any decent advice other than keep on trying. It is very tight there and I had a struggle myself the other day when trying to replace a cable without a plug connected to it. Good luck!
G’day,
OK I give Up. How do you feed wires, with plugs on, from the fuse box area to the centre dashboard of a Defender?
I have tried feeding a snake (firm wire with a hook on the end) down from the top with nil success in being able to feed the wire back to the top. Are there any other hole/ gaps in the dash?.
My frustration was enhanced today by the posting of the land Rover/Lucas Jokes.
Regards
Mykeeta

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.
I used a metre long cable tie with the head removed - just like the wire snake you refer to but flat with no hooked end. I feed it down to the fuse area (by the pointy end) then taped the wires to it and slowly pulled it back up. Wasn't easy but it worked. I seem to recall using some persuasive language as well.

G'day
Depends on what your doing. If you have a CD player and are trying t get to the pod below then its been my experience that you have to disassemble the whole thing.
I've tried several different methods with no success. In sheer frustration last time I had mine appart I ran 5 additional wires to the pod in preparation for an oil pressure guage and a voltage guage too.
To strip it down you have t remove the top of the dash,Handle in the eft end of the dash panel, radion pod, Instrument pod. This leaves you with access to the wiring harness where it comes up from the fuse box to the radio connection and then on to the back of the dashboard.
Good luck![]()
