    Disco1 instrument binnacle switch bulbs

    Hi all,

All the bulbs in the switches on my instrument binnacle need replacing.

Does anyone know where you can buy them from?

    For a Disco1 update.

    Thanks

Do they look like these (in orange or green)

These are pics of the ones from my P38A and the same ones are used in some Disco switches.,

    If so, try a dealer.

    Yep that's them.

Green for illumination and orange for 'on'.

    Thanks Ron

I got some recently from my local dealer for a bit over $2 each. They look like the ones Ron posted but the bulb holder is either bright green or orange for the D1.

Did all of them go at once? Wiring problem?

I've had the disco for 10 years and they have only just started to fail. 3 in the last couple of months.

I just called LR at Newstead and they are $4 each. Since I need 5 green ones that makes $20. Bit steep really.
I think I'll call a few after market parts places.
I'd just get new bulbs and fit them to the holder like I did for the clock but I've never seen a bulb that small before.

Mine have all gone over time. They all worked when I got the car 12 months ago but the final one died yesterday (I noticed yesterday anyway).

The holders in my Disco where black for the green bulb and orange for the orange bulb.

    Have you tried Jaycar.
I think the part number is SL2685 for a clear 12v bulb - dimensions are 3 mm by 7 mm.

I'd have to pull one out and take the condom off but I reckon that they are smaller than that.

I had already checked the catalogue.

It would be easier if Jaycar stocked the LED style bulb (i.e with legs and not wires) but they don't.

I was thinking of fitting a little LED and resistor in there but there isn't much space.

I've been experimenting with LEDs and have managed to set one up in one switch as an experiment. As you say it's a bit of a fiddle to get the resistor and the LED in (I've mounted the LED and resister in the holder after removing the failed bulb) but it's worked for some months and I'll probably replace the rest with LEDs when I get the time.
One problem I may face is getting the lights to illuminate at the same brightness in all switches.
