I personally didn't think that the 4.6 was much different to the 4.0 but when I let my wife drive it, she thought that it does leap off the lights with very noticeable improvement.

I guess maybe I was expecting too much for the mega bucks that I've sunk into this rebuild. So far, fully rebuilt engine with new everything, new radiator and new Land Rover genuine O2 sensors, I'm set back $8500 all up. So I guess I'm expecting a Range Rover Sport but I keep forgetting I've got a motor designed 50 years ago by Buick and the tank of petrol that I have is very very stale, since my Disco was in the workshop for a month....

    Hi Pedro,

Yes, that's what I thought, but the expansion tank was always topped up full, yet the gurgling continued.

Presumably this condition contributed significantly to the liner slippage problem.

    Hi Ron,

What sort of fuel consumption are you seeing on petrol?

I just put in about 34 litres of fuel to top up the tank since the discounted prices on fuel is best on Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning in Melbourne.

Worked out that my fuel consumption is 20 litres per 100 kms on relatively stale petrol.

I've topped up the tank with BP Ultimate 98. Let's see how I go next fill up.

    13 litres/100km on highway (over 550km)
    18-20 litres/100km around town
    on my old engine.

This one is still a bit tight.
