Hi Im running ARBs airlockers for six years now and been using standard axles i have now broken 7 axles the 2 last ones were both the long ones. I have just gone over to Maxies axles (x4) $1500 (just under) and fitted them myself.

I went ARB due to the fact that you can remove them if you change vehicles and still want lockers in the vehicle and they were cheeper when the money was tight.

IMHO both are on a level playing field for doing the job at hand

I have ARB lockers front and rear (fitted by ARB Darwin) along with a long range fuel tank and 2" suspension lift from them. I have had no complaints and based upon their standard of work would happily recomend them. I am running standard axles and have not snapped them (yet) if and when I do I will upgrade to maxi or jmac

I have used them heaps of times to get myself out of trouble or more importantly not to get into trouble, several times in conjunction with the winch and a lot of times pulling someone else out of trouble.

If you have the money I believe they are an asset but there are other pieces of equipment I would get first if I was doing a budget build up.

two good fire extinguishers first
suspension and tyres second
bullbar winch and snorkle third
then lockers fourth

obviously this is not including a second battery or any of the other associated equipment equipment that the sky is the limit on.

P.S. I believe ARB and Maxi are very good value for money and regardless of which ones you get you will be happy with them.

Call Fred Smith. He sells lots of Maxi stuff and has fitted so many of these lockers I wouldn't be surprised if he could do it in his sleep.;)

His prices are the best in Melbourne for MD stuff.

i have arb air locker in the rear of 96 disco used about dozen times in the past three years am going to fit it to the new td5 130 defender toy :) :D :p:p :wasntme:

My quote that I got from ARB here in NSW $3000 for the lockers $400 for the compressor and about $350ish to replace the bearings the Maxi Drive shafts are costing me $1300 plus freight so all up $5000ish installed

The Maxi drive good as it maybe I found to expensive

I don't think it will fit disco has rover diff and 130 sals diff..

unless it's a post '02 model, (P38 style Rover rear end) but it still may not fit.....

He didnt say the rear. It will fit the front though.

Its a once off purchase so get what you really want and pinon bearings etc are necessary if your rig has done a few K's and you dont want to be pulling out the locker the week after for repairs do you.
$1450 june deal was a national ARB incentive that ended in July.
