Freelander tailgate glass
Hi all...
For a while now I had small problems with my Flandie's tailgate: the handle broke off a couple of times (fixed) and recently the microswitch gave up the ghost so I could not open or close the rear door.
Replaced the handle today with a brand new unit. All works well... BUT the bloody glass does not go down enough to open the door. With a little help it drops to where it should.
Now, everything else works fine - the glass opens and shuts as it should, the door closes and opens as it should... so I have no idea why the glass does not come down enough...
My thoughts are that the glass has some sort of a restriction and simply does not drop... or there might be an interference somewhere...
Any ideas?
Cheers

Did you dislodge something when fitting the handle?
Once you get the trim panel off, to access the nuts for the handle you need to get the glass to move up while the door is open... How did you do this? If you forced it, that might be where the problem lies.

Naaah... the tailgate glass wasn't coming down properly before I did the handle. To raise the glass when doing the handle I tricked it to think the door is closed and the window went up... no way I'd be forcing anything on that car

there is a set of nylon lined clamps that hold the glass in place. The glass can be firm, so check the clamps are tight and give a good lube!
Should not be hard to fix.
