    Engine pressurisation?

Hi folks, have a problem with oil pressurising out of the rocker cover gasket and little round breather on rocker cover, and smoke (possibly burning oil) coming out of the crankcase breather pipe, attached to the oil filler tube. The engine is a petrol 4 cyl. 2.25l landy motor, with a 34ICH Weber. Driving down the road, it looks like something from a James Bond movie, with a thin trail of oil smoke trailing behind. I've been told to check the oil pump pressure relief valve, in case it might be sticking, and was wondering if anyone had any other ideas, am willing to try anything. Cheers, Ben.

you should have a pipe running to the small pipe on the side of the filler that routes it back to the intake manifold after the carby with a vent cap on the top of the rocker to let the engine breathe.

If that hose is missing that accounts for the problem, a little bit of smoke from there is normal....

I had the same problem on a toyota engine once.

Turned out to be a broken outer valve spring.
