    This is my one, sold as a hot water cylinder element spanner in a hardware shop. It's approx 3mm thick by 150mm long, very solid





    Looks like true size is 1-1/4" Whitworth.

    1 3/8"BSF is the same size as 1 1/4"Whitworth, 52mm should be a tight fit but I guess sockets are slightly oversized so it fits. It's interesting that the size of the nut hasn't changed since the Series 1 !
    Your box spanner looks considerably stronger than the one they sell at Four Wheel Drives, I think I'll be looking out for a hot water element spanner when I next visit a hardware shop.......

    I believe a toyo one is the same, should be easy to get.

    I don't actually use one, I use stihlsons

    But I mainly work on early stuff, before they reduced the space of the wheel bearings

    Apparently 4 Wheel drives are out of stock, I helped a mate do the discs on his 110 last week, and he'd tried to buy one off them.

    According the the 4 wheel drives blurb, when I bought mine 15 years ago, they suit Land Rover, Toyota & Jeep. I remember buying some and selling them to Toyota Mechanics in the Kimberley for $15ea (about 12 years ago). They thought it was a bargain as Toyota ones were $50+ then.

    Jimbo, which shop was that & how long ago? I have one of the ones from 4w drives, about $8 7-8 years ago from memory but its 54mm & as mentioned above a bit sloppy & I've never been that happy with it. It works on hot water cylinders too.

    Never has so much been posted about such a small issue.
    The bloody nuts aren't even very tight.
    And of course everyone will replace the lock tabs when they next do their wheel bearings won't they.
