tow points on 89 rr

I am gunna jump off a tall building here,
and say there could be a few people on here that could splice rope,,, ;)

2) Expanded
3) Contracted.

Anyone familiar with splicing the Plasma/Dyneema ropes should be able to do these.

On my recovery over the weekend we used a snatch strap into the tow bar hole and put the pin through it. There was some huge loads on (draging the hilux forward on the winch) and didnt even bend the pin.

I think tow & winch would be fine its when you start putting a snatch strap on trying pull very stuck vehicles it may come to problems BUT i dont have one of these bars with a pin so cant say

comments anyone?

I would have to say that towing/winching would have to be o.k. as thats what the pin does when the tow ball is fitted and you are towing a trailer? just my 2 cents.

It takes less to bend the pin than it does to shear off a towball.

Just because you get away with something, doesn't make it sound practise.

The loading on the pin is very different between holding a single rope and holding a square receiver in place.

The same pin is about 8 times stronger holding a reciever than it is with a rope or strop pulling on it's centre.
