Hi gurus,

I've been driving Dad's 97 V8 Disco, auto, there is a huge, loud CLUNK and a rough gear change, when going up the gears. Especially when going onto final drive. The big difference I notice between my Disco and Dad's is that the gears hold for a really long time before changing up. (and then the clunk) I know it wasn't always like that, it started after a visit to a mechanic around 2 years ago, the symptoms then was that when the car was on 4th (final drive) the car would loose power and we would have to leave it on 3rd gear so the car would run smoothly on the freeway. The mechanic "claimed" LR trained said he know how to fix it, and since then that has been happening.

Any suggestions??? I have read that the clunk is something common and I guess they are two different problems.
