    Long range fuel tank

I am going to fabricate a long range fuel tang for my rangie. Where the pump goes in the top is easy to fit (most likely just fit an external pump), the problem being the fuel sender unit hole with its bayonet type fitting, where can I get one of these or do I have to cut up a tank .
    thoughts please
    cheers

I reckon you're going to have to chop an old tank to get the fitting.

If you'd posted a month or two ago I'd have been able to chop one out of an old tank I replaced on a Defender. The bottom was stuffed but the rest was in good nick. Someone else might have one lying around.

    Hi Jsp
Home base is Tassie, just got back from a fly trip through SA on the way home from Perth, off to Brissie on the 12th for a fornight. Then full on planning for the big trip next year. Have you got one, dont mind paying for it plus frieght (get used to that down here) or maybe you have a Long range tank?
    cheers

At this point I just dont want to pay $1200 + for a commercial made tank.

I am in SA and have a tank from a 77, I assume it has the bits your after. There's not a local wrecker who could sell you one cheaper than the freight charge?

If you just chop around it, leaving 2 or 3 inches of steel all the way round, it won't be very heavy. Freight would be $10-$15 or so from SA to TAS I would guess.
