I made an educated guess (see thats different to an assumption) as to what he was trying to get at the questions as I presented it are how I interpreted what he asked in my first reply.

Im fairly certain that If Id taken more time and effort I could have presented that last post in a nicer manner


But at the end of the day At best this kind of things is purely speculative to give you an idea as to where your test results might take you and as I alluded to in my second post the best way is to actually do it in a minimal variation environment IE on a dyno.

and i want to learn how you can apply maths to this, no matter how simple or complicated it is.

It can certainly be done - it's called mathematical modeling. There is software available to make this a more achiveable task such as Stella. I used this software once to model a falling parachute (not as easy as it sounds!).
It is very time consuming to set up. You need to identify the significant variables and then come up with a mathematical representation of those variables, then combine the lot! For your situation, there are many variables, but some can be eliminated/disregarded by assuming that they can be controlled. This is what Blknight was suggesting with his dyno experiment.

Wat gear are they in would be the main 'other consideration', assuming like you said, that both vehicles are exactly the same and in the exact same conditions.

Your question is basically impossible to answer in the real world, but in a simulated environment (like a computer game) it could be calculated mathematically using many variables and equations. BUT its not worth it.

Generall consensus would be if it was flat highway driving at a speed of less than 100km/h the vehicle doing the lesser revs/travelling abit slower would use less fuel.

Thats as far as I will get into this thread. :wheelchair:
