RR Sport - Reliable Long Term?

    Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of a Range Rover Sport as my road car - no I'm NOT selling the Defender.

I'd love to hear peoples opinion of how reliable it will be long term - I'm a little bit afraid of all that technical wizardry, particularly the air bags and 'terrain response' systems.

PS - I doubt it will see much more than a dirt road.

    Thanks for your opinions!

    Nathan

Now that it's been around for a few years, it now appears to be quite reliable.

The best people to ask would be the workshop guys.

It's on the same platform as the D3 (i.e. not the same platform as the RR Vogue) and I think it has the same V6 diesel as the Disco too, so all in all pretty much the same as a D3 I expect!

There are a few dedicated Disco 3 sites around, so try searching there. There is also a big Range Rover site in the US: http://www.rangerovers.net/ which is sure to have some feedback.

As noted above, we are having no big issues with D3s or Rangie Sports.

My brother has owned one from new and has not had any problems mechanically - although he says that he had to get the drivers window motor replaced under warranty during the first week he had it. Not bad really....compared to my Classic RR...

Correct... Almost identical other than being 6" shorter and the RRS being 'tuned' for better on-road handling.

I work at a Land Rover dealer, RRS's & D3's are proving to be very reliable. The main problems on early models with the suspension etc have been sorted by software upgrades.
Go for the TDV6 or the fantastic TDV8 & you'll be fine

One of my recent clients came up with a great description of the power from TDV8 in the RRS...

"It's like having a filthy whore that just keeps wanting to give you more & more & more..."

Just don't expect too many waves from other Land Rover drivers !

RRS = top road car, 2.7V6TD goes really hard, corners on rails and will return well over 30mpg all day !
