Because that's the international standard.

Mine's about the same consumption on LPG, it's going to be heavier than petrol.
I'll be looking to fit oxy semsors to mine as well to improve my overall range.
BTW I also think in K/L and find the 'new speak' frustrating.
I have a known quantity of fuel and I need to know how far it will take me, in that regard the old fashioned formula makes more sense.
Well, if you don't use the approved metric measure , you will find lots of people (young etc) will not understand. Just as if you said pints per mile, I would not easily understand.
Its taken me a Loooong time to get my head around L per100Km, so please use it.
My BMW readout and every other car readout is in Lper 100Km.
Well LPG gets about 20% worse than petrol , so if that is on the highway yes its bad eg a RRC 3.9 gets about 15= about 18 on LPG.Quote:
Hi Philip, On LPG I'm getting approx 300k's to a 70 liters so that wortks out to be about 4.28k's/ltr or about 23k's per 100k's right?
Are you saying that this sort of mileage is bad as I've never known anything different except the odd 5k's/ltr.
Regards Philip A
L/100kms is a measure of fuel CONSUMPTION (ie volume of fuel consumed per distance travelled).
kms/L (& mpg) is a measure of fuel ECONOMY (ie distance travelled per given volume of fuel).
I know that mpg used to used when talking about about fuel CONSUMPTION, but the pedants (Ron? :D) decided it was incorrect & should be corrected.

Well yeah as you say, I was talking about economy but I guess courses for horses. Anyway they'll be the first against the wall when the revolution breaks out right?! :D:D
I guess it's just what you grow up with, I was always riding Harleys and believe me you always wanted to know how far you got to a tank so that you could work out whether you made it to the next servo' or not on runs!

The other thing I think might be playing a role in my fuel economy is that when I installed the lpg, I had to shorted the air-intake funnel to make room. I am wondering now whether the air is coming in too hot since it is probably drawing it from the engine bay rather than from the vents near the headlights.
I have a trip next Thursday to Melbourne from here on the Central Coast so about 1000k's each way. It will be a good trip to test out the new EL radiator I installed, so I might try too to add some additional tubing to the air intake and get it closer to some cooler air.
Hopefully I'll end up with a good ltr to 100k ratio. If not, then I'll look into these O2 sensors. What do they cost and where do I get them from?
Hey Philip, check your PM box too.
Cheers,
Pete'
Pete, what type of gas system do you have? vapour injection by injectors , or old single point vacuum system?
The O2 sensors only work with the ECU so they would only work with vapour injection which used the 14CUX ECU.
AFAIK the vapour injection systems mostly have their own ECU and own O2 sensor.
At 23L per 100Kms, you would most probably have a vacuum system running rich, so O2 sensors will not help.
Regards Philip A.
Hi Philip I don't know what the first thing is and I have an impco convertor and mixer still with my original Disco' injectors so i guess a vacuum system.
The only other thing I can tell you is that I am running quite advanced to get the best out of the lpg but when I click over to petrol, I get pinging under acceleration.
