MAF= Mass Air Flow?? If thats right, then i've found it. But the contacts look to be in pretty good shape. I'll give them a twist and hit it with cleaner a bit later and see how it goes.

MAF, AFM. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet blah blah blah".:D
Don't be mislead by appearances. Mine looked fine but obviously were making poor contact, & as someone here posted it could be due to 'heat soak''
ie. After the vehicle has been running, or standing with a hot donk, then the contacts move in relation to the plug & hey presto! One crap idle problem.
Yours may or may not be this easy, but as it it was such an easy fix & continues to be satisfactory, I still can't believe it was that simple after all the grief I had gone through.
If you pull the multi-plug when the engine is running, it's the same effect & this is what made me suspect this aspect, as I had done it some months before. Resultant effect was identical.
I would also be chasing down Tanks idea as this was the problem I had and after cleaning the idle valve on the back of the Plenum cover (back drivers side I think) it was all of a sudden idling beautifully again.

Yep, all these things need looking at. I also had a loose IAC valve plate. I replaced the hard gasket with some blue gasket silicone stuff.
Tightening it improved the idle a little, but it was still poor, which needed more diagnosis.
Even cleaning the Vehicle Speed Sensor made a difference when the vehicle stopped & that was dismantled (actually it fell apart at the seam, a common problem with them it seems).
Eventually, "Eureka!":D
What is a plenum cover? Does anyone have a picture of one? This is all new to me.
I've twisted the Male connectors slightly and cleaned them, this seems to be a little better, but as it warms up it gets worse..
That 's unfortunate.:(
Have a read of this to familiarise yourself.

Lads, please post your findings for the future benefit of others, when you eventually get it right.
Seems it's one of the most common, annoying problems with the V8i.:(
