With a little bit of modification (using a round file to file out a chamfer) a honda boss fits a Disco1, and I've used a holden boss on a RRC. Next time you are near Blacktown, visit Pick and Payless - they have a SII, and you can try various car makes steering wheels on it. (It is a wreckers yard after all)

The 1958 Series 2 has a clamp type fitting - I know of no boss kit designed for these, nor in fact any other post-50s car that uses a similar fitting, although you they were fairly common from the thirties and forties.

I think you will find that to use a different steering wheel you will just about have to fit a post suffix C steering box, which used a nut to hold the wheel on. There are bosses available for these, and also other wheels that fit.

The steering box is a bolt-in replacement (with wheel) and remained the same from there up to the end of S3 production except for modifications for a steering lock etc, so should be easy to find one.
