    Fender TD5 oil pump bolt

I made enquiries at Brit parts and Service about carrying out the oil pump sprocket bolt security inspection on my 99 Defender. The mechanic advised that he read in a Landrover publication that only a batch of Discovery's TD5's were affected and that it was not an issue on the Defender.

Can anyone confirm or deny this ?

    Thanks

It's an easy job so I would just do it to be safe. Did mine last year.

There have been many threads on this subject.

It seems that the pre 2002 TD5's were the suspect engines, especially the early models.

Mine is a build 06/2001 TD5 the bolt on mine was fine. Checked a year ago. For the $350 odd dollars good peace of mind I reckon if you own a TD5.

    Hi Graham
It effects both Disco and Defender.
The TD5s all come off the same production line before being fitted to whichever Landy.
    Its a must check.

    Graz,
Yep pre 2002 defenders, which is why I checked mine. Mine was ok but was worth the effort. Incorporated in and oil change. Cost was a new sump gasket and some loctite. I just dropped the sump onto the diff and did it there.
Apparently affected rovers built between 99 and 02.

Sound odd, considering LR in the UK pay for Australias warranty claims. I am sure if it happened inside the warranty period it would be covered.

Unless you are reffering to checking it...
