Yeah coil and leads are the next logical step most likely, wont harm in changing them anyway :). Got free time tomorrow so will go and get some and see where it leaves me. Thanks for your replies :).

Thanks for that MAF voltage info.
I have just been out & checked mine & the voltage is 1.0. Is it worth adjusting this up a smidge or leave well alone?
Where is the "magic screw" located for future refernce, as I cannot see anything obvious.
Its a 5AM MAF.
Thanks.
Thanks Justin.
Saw that but didn't want to touch it until I knew more. Yep it seems to have a disc in it.
Do you think it's worth having a tweak or let sleeping pooches still continue kipping?
Well I would tend towards if your not having any trouble then leave it alone :)
From what I read it appears that 1.0v or close to it is right for stock non cat engines.
My engine has a remapped fuel chip and it still seemed happiest down near 1.0v (forget the exact reading). I don't have any fancy test equipment so I just did it by how it felt to me.
Just a note that way the 3.9 is plumbed it will vac advance as you open the throttle, not cruise or idle.
I had at one stage replumbed mine to operate as you described above but didn't like the overall results and disconnected it entirely (mine's gassed).
edit. a faulty vac advance with give poor power & economy but not cause overfuelling
Would this sensor by any chance have a boot about 1 1/2 inches long and two black wires ? I have this hanging down under neath my power steering reservoir and don't know where to plug it into... I've had a look around but can't see anywhere it should go. Its a 96 Disco V8
Faulty injectors can cause overfueling.
I ran mine on LPG without using petrol frequently. When I pulled the injectors the needles were stuck open and the caps were missing on some. Fuel was gushing out of them hence black smoke out the exhaust
hi fade, not too sure where gosnells is but i'm located in butler - northern suburbs of perth if your close enough i have a spare complete v8 with coil maf etc..
your more than welcome to come and try swapping some pieces over to see if you can find out exactly whats going on.

Thanks for the offer Taff. Have finally got it fixed though. Turned out to be the fuel pump, didnt need to change all those pesky ignition components in the end, but least I have useable spares when i need them. Running nicely now so I can get out 4wding again at last :D
