Do a search on "300tdi pump tweek"

It will tell you everything.. even how to turn your loved 300 into a ashtray..

Where do I get a thermocouple?

I tried a shorter thermocouple but it wasn't as accurate so you can see the one I used here. You need to bend it slightly to get it in the middle of the gas flow.

This photo is of a temporary plate because I was testing two thermocouples. I then drilled/tapped the plate that was on the Exhaust Gas Return hole. The bolts undid quite easily (I too was concerned about snapping them) - sprayed WD40 and left it for a while to soak. No problem.
    Hi Ralph,

Could you tell me please where you obtained your long thermocouple? I have lost mine - %&#@$#$ - so as I need to get one anyway, may as well get a long one!

    Cheers,

    Paul

a safe maximum is 720*C. I've hit 735* a few times for a couple of seconds when not paying attention..... ops:

Pat, I posted the link to Ian's write-up on how to adjust the pump after you asked on one of the recent pump tuning threads in the last couple of weeks.
It's a PDF file here on AULRO complete with pictures and what each adjustment does in terms of fuel delivery.
    Well worth the read.
