Damm, do you or anyone else knows how to get to this pump, I've been under and over the car -do I drop the tank or do I rip up the carpet in the back
The seres 11 Disco does not have a fuel return line to the fuel tank.
The fuel regulator is in the tank.
If you have a return line you do not have a series 11 Disco V8.

Hi all, finally got the carpet up from under the 2 plastic storage bins at the sides of the back, took the fuel pump out, cleaned the filter (very fine piece of flyscreen on a black disc) cleaned it all, put it back in, and now it's a bit worse. car now a bit rough when accelerating, then lost power again after 2kms. Could the pump be on the way out ? any suggestions ?
I'm completely googled out looking at different sites to no avail.
And finally, I live in central Vic. can anyone suggest where I can get it towed to without paying $100,000 for the repair
Richard what year model is your Discovery from the registration papers?
What does the top of the engine look like?
Is it a rectangular box, or a series of curved tubes with the throttle body on a pipe at the front pointing left.

Sorry, I thought it was a Td5
Yes, filter and pump are in the tank, and yes, you can access it through the floor in the back.
My experience with these is that the pump will fail due to filter blockages, because the filter never gets changed....
As an aside,The Bosch Motronic also doesnt have a fuel return from the engine, so the pump cycles back IN the tank.
I have replaced several of these recently, both around 120,000km old.
PhillipA also suggested the crank and/ or the cam sensor, these will need Testbook, Rovacom or Autologic systems plugged in to verify this fault.

You would think the pump would be making some noise if working.
Regarding plugs, many moons ago I have a 302 Fairlane that, in the middle of QLD, decided to miss and loose power every time I put the foot down on the excellerator.
I eventually cruised into the Salt Creek Roadhouse at 10 mph and found a mixture of new and used plugs to fit the motor.
After the change it went like greese lightening.
What had happened was the motor overheated earler and destroyed the spark plugs. They looked fine, but would not work under any load.
Where in Central Vic are you ?
