    electronic disconnnecting sway bars

A mate of mine read that an upgrade to the 200 series landcruiser is that it is to be fitted with an electronic gismo to disconnect the sway bars for off roading.....yep no need to get out of the car to pull pins etc

    Apparently is an australian invention

    Anybody heard of it??

Nope. Don't think I want to try it either.
I know what happens when you forget to reconnect them.
And so do most police pursuit drivers.
Holden Commodores can "self disconnect" their sway bars as well, resulting in loss of control and a crash.

    Im guessing its on there.
All but the base ones have a new wizz bang system that is basically the same as Landrovers ACE,taken them 10 years to catch up.Im thinking they went one step further and added self unpinning swaybars. This isnt new tech either, some GQ pootrols had it as a factory option.
Kinetic Susp in WA have done the 200 Series suspension work.

As said Nissan had them in the GQ (from 88 but was dropped before long). They work well although can sieze if they are not used regularly

I can switch my ACE bars off - via a speed signal generator box I built and programmed. It tells ACE that the vehicle is doing 2kph so ACE keeps the bars unlocked.

Ive never needed to disconnect the swaybar and I dont think it is all that nessesary on a Disco but then again I dont do much Hardcore stuff and I get plenty of articulation with it on anyway.

We messed around on a trip with a log to drive up.
My D2 with ACE and a new 2" lift went further than Kens ACE equipped standard susp.We both did alot better than Jeffs(Studio 54) standard D2 no ACE/standard tyres.
The big difference was the ACE unlocked in low range gives a substantial increase to the droop over standard. We found this in our playing around, the D2 owners manual states the same!!! The D2 doesnt disconect, but with no force on the swaybars they are rendered ineffective.
