    chasing leaks in defender!!

    hi all,
the 64'000 dollar question..where is the water getting in to the front of my 110?? i have checked the vent flaps & as long as they are shut..no probs, but i still end up with a pool on the inner side of the driver's well & the far side near the firewall of the passenger's.
any ideas for me to hunt down?

mine were the windscreen hinges and the gutters. the bog had split letting the water to get between the 2 skins then travell down the inside of the roof and down the front pillars. a bit of sikaflex fixed that.

I reckon the main culprit on mine is the gutters, I just haven't got around to doing something about it yet.

On the Series vehicles the gutters continued around the entire roof, but on the Defenders they stop at the edge of the windscreen. The water creeps it's way back up there and into the cab...

Someone posted a PDF which I downloaded and have at home (but not with me at work unfortunately) showcasing where Land Rover themselves check for leaks.

I'll do a search and see if I can find it, it's on the forum somewhere

Give up ,its a holy grail you will never find, water also comes in from the gap between body and roof- and dont say there isnt one as i have seen it and the way LR tried to fix it on my mates brand new 2002 Extreme was pure bodge.

Thanks Grizzly. That will be printed and taken to the Dealer - just in case they don't know what they are doing - for a complete fix-it on my 12 month old Defender.

After two new Discoveries, one County and two new Defenders this is the first vehicle I have had with a leak - which I suppose could be considered fair enough - but with a little persistence I reckon I can persuade the Dealer to fix-it - along with the sissy little rear diff that needs replacing .............again ...... after only 40K's.
