    diff compatability

    Hey,

I've got a couple of questions in regards to diffs for a disco I (JUN 93).
    1) Are a pair of '82 rangie diffs (complete diff housing) compatable to my disco [i.e. brake callipers, trailing arms, pinion shaft to tailshaft, + anything else]
    2) do the newer fine spline axles have any significant strength over the earlier course spline axles?

    final question
    3) Will an 82 Rangie's transfer case bolt straight in to my disco?

    Cheers, would appreciate any help

    1) Nearly . Brake lines imperial vs metric. Rear shocks maybe staggered, but maybe not on 82.
    2) yes
    3) No 82 Range Rover does not have a separate transfer case. The LT95 and transfer are one piece.

    2) do the newer fine spline axles have any significant strength over the earlier course spline axles? Much Stronger ! common conversion done on early Rangie's !

    final question
    3) Will an 82 Rangie's transfer case bolt straight in to my disco? Not sure ? what engine and Gearbox's fittedin each car ?
    Cheers, would appreciate any help

28th November 2007 07:45 PMThe other end of the line then becomes the problem.
You will need a custom line with one end imperial and the other metric whichever way you ie 82 calipers or disco calipers.

    Ahhh, solly my bad engrish

You use the lines and calipers COMPLETE from the late assembly and bolt them on the early diff's

Don't want to stir the nest too much but are you sure about the imperial vs metric? I have a 1981 Rangie was has metric brake lines and as I understand my model was around the change over - sorry, can't tell you what month it is though.....

    Exclamation

    And a now a sly hi-jack.....

Will the full axles from a 1994 Disco (24 spline - 150k) easily bolt to my 1981 Rangie? For approx $500 is it worth buying these or should I speak with MaxiDrive for 1/2 shafts to suit the RR?

    Cheers

Are your rear shocks staggered ( old RR) or the same each side(Disco)?
While you are at it, have a look to see whether your brake lines are metric or imperial.
Buggered if I can remember that accurately.
