    Unhappy SLS- Dropped TD5

    Hi all,
My 2003 D2 TD5 has SLS. Came out yesterday morning and found it dropped onto the stops.
Started it up, no warning lights showing, tried the dash button, no response, left the motor running, nothing, turned the motor off and went inside the house.
Came out 10 minutes later, and the Disco stood at the right height again.
Hasn't done it since, although after any drive, short or long, the Compressor motor under the RR fender was hot.
I suspect a slow leak, but the activation button has always been fickle.
    Diagnosis and treatment please.

2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

one of the easest ways of finding out which side it is when leaving it parked over night disconnect the battery (hope you have your stereo codes) the reason for disconnecting the battery is to stop the car from trying to keep it self level and a spray bottle full of soapy water spray around the hose connections also around the bottom of the air bag as well, this will let you know where to start.

If it is only leaking sometimes I would suspect the airbag I had a large split on mine once got me from melbourne to sydney it was only when I hit a big bump that it would dump the air but would build back up pressure.

    Motor

On my 2001 model the compressor is in a black "lunch box" under the passenger side about where the central door pillar is. Mine collaspsed one side. It's not cheap but it is a bit "nasty" lookin! Mud had got into the box and pushed a valve apart. While it was flat I took the valve apart, cleaned it, fine ever since. If it goes flat again be careful of driving it until the leak is found so the compressor is not over-worked keeping up. I find it surprising if it was a leak that the compressor didn't opperate the first time you turned on the car, mine worked for a few minutes then cut out, even though suspension didn't rise. Mine has a bash plate under it now to protect the crappy box. Maybe if there is no leak it's an electronic fault.

Mine did a similar thing a couple of weeks back, went down for a mountain bike race in Bundanoon, camped in a field overnight, woke up and the back right was down as far as it could go, car looked very stupid sat next to another D2 which was perfectly level, started up, drove off, came back up and has been fine since...and i have no intention of trying to find what's wrong, i'll only break something....

    Thanks Stevo,
It has only done it once more since posting, and it is bi-lateral.
Could it be the compressor connection, since it does it within 30 mins of shut-down (the RAVE describes this as one of the conditions for the SLS compressor to kick in)
    Are these fragile to check?
