    Sagging Roof Lining

    Hi All,
My 300tdi has sagging roof lining.
Have read the common threads area, seems like the fix is to have an the lining removed and replaced.

Has anybody had this done and able to recommend an upholsterer in Sydney, prefer north or north west suburbs.

    Thanks in advance.

    repair roof lining

This may be of some interest to you; I had a '94 Defender cab chassie ute body. The roof lining came away from the pressed preformed mould that was attached to the roof. I took the whole preformed section from the roof; I opened a small section between the material and the preform large enough to insert my hand and used some Selleys AQUADHERE wood working glue and spread it all over the area that had seperated. The material that the preform is made from appears to be made from a reconstituted cardboard material. This glue is designed for wood and cardboard comes from a wood base. It has worked. After applying the glue I used many bricks to "press" the material back on via the glue.

Another solution is to replace the roof lining with a pre 94 Disco lining. It fits with only a few mods, and if dirty can be scrubbed and washed. ( Worked for me)

Mine has sagged too. I used about 8 xmas tree trim plugs in selected places, namely round the sunroof indents, which seems to have cured the problem for now.

A half decent Motor Trimmers will charge around $400 (depending on repalcement material) to pull the lot out and re-glue that new material onto the cardboard type base and refit. It will be better than the original that had glue that which was sh%t. They should have selection of materials ranging from the OEM through to scrubbable.
