It was on the way to Alice Springs so I had plenty of road to play with :D

It wouldnt drop into lockup so it was up around the 3600rpm mark in 4th from memory.

It wasnt really that hairy as the roads are pretty flat and wide as I said.

It was before th lift was put in so I still had caster which makes them a bit nocer to drive at speed.

On the TD5 Defender thing - has anyone worked out how to move (easily-ish) the ECU from under the seat to somewhere a little higher to stop it getting drowned in "oh that puddle / river / boghole doesn't look too deep !" mode.

You could just buy a 300TDI and never have a problem again :D:D:D

On a serious note, if you take it to a decent auto elec it shouldnt be too much trouble to move it where ever you want.

Should be ok. stocker 29's and 3.54's equates to 33's with 4.11's. Changing to muddies will alter the economy though.

Look at the new Defender's, it's bolted to the firewall right behind the engines head.

Personally I think the cabin may be a better option than this.
