Perhaps we cn start a new thread with some links to wreaking up the appetite for research and be well informed.
I just post a small quantity of links for the eager to learn about the subject.
If you think that is appropriate please move it to a different location in the forum or make a new thread.

whats interesting in this thread is this idea of "going into the remote wilderness in your unreliable vehicle." Satphones and epirbs removed the need for you to panic a hell of a lot IF you do break down no matter what you drive, as long as you have the necessary provisions.Someone is sure to mention towing costs next, 5k to get towed out of the middle of the Simpson, I'd pay it, a tenth the price of the vehicle.I do a lot of solo treks and the way I beat the so called "worry" is to look after my vehicle as its supposed to be and I have a credit card I have never used with a 5k limit just for that purpose. It seems to me that a lot of vehicle owners purchase vehicles that their budget cannot sustain the upkeep, hence they breakdown and get the unreliable tag.

My point was I wasn't that interested in the subject at hand, more the fact that he'd travelled in these different countries

Anyhow thanks for the dig and clearing up your opinion of me, I'll keep it in mind
