$200 worth of spare sensors in the kit for the hell of it, Sat phones and happy to spend $5k on transporting their car out of the simpson is all a little pricey for me when they would still have to carry the same spares as I do as well i.e. belts, hoses and the odd part like rubber dohunt etc.

That $200 could go a long way as far as servicing and repairs go on a 300TDI as well as it would get me about 1100kms in fuel and $5k could buy me a whole second hand engine which I could easilly fit in the middle of the simpson after using a D2 owners sat phone to order one from the nearest LR wrecker and getting it on the next trailer of truck heading my way.

    Geez $5k would buy me a whole rego'd D1 V8 or a Rangie.

Like I said, it all comes down to money and how much you have......Not really worth argueing about it...
BUT I dont plan on using the 5k, and lets be serious here, no matter what you drive if it dies half way down the Canning its gonna cost a bomb to get you and it out of there. Sure 5k will get you a new motor for an older vehicle etc etc.. but if I blow up my Holden 186 in the middle of nowhere I may be able to buy 20 for that amount but whos going to deliver me just one for free???

If TD5's are as unreliable as you are making out surely all my spare sensors are not for the hell of it! As far as I am concerned having a decent amount of spares and tools is only sensible. I dont want to risk our safety should something go wrong, and I am not going to not take spares just to prove a point to opinionated forum members.

At least in a td5 you dont get the risk of the cambelt snapping. Would rather take any number of dead sensors than that.

I havent been on this forum long but from what I have seen of some of your posts you are just after an argument most of the time.

It doesnt come down to money atall. I could afford a tdi Disco, but I dont drive one.

Afraid shouting doesnt make you correct.

Makes me correct when I am.........

I was saying wrong to the comments about the around the world Latitude trip not your stupid sensors

Bit touchy are you about what you post?

I will keep that in mind anytime I post something in a forum that you are a part of in the future even when it has Nothing to do with you.............

Now on the point of what I said about your sensors......

I can travel about 11kms on that in fuel......Correct

You still have to carry the same sort of spares as well as your sensors.....Correct

geez, does that mean I am correct or not???????????????

As far as the timing belt issue, It isnt an issue as long as you do it at around the 80k km mark as with most vehicals with a timing belt including my wifes carolla and a lot of other cars so I see that as maintenance not a problem as do you guys with replacing looms and tightening oil pump bolts as well as replacing plastic head dowels and head gaskets etc etc etc etc etc.......

    Oh yeah Im still correct......

On top of that, I probably carry a wider selection of tooling than most people do as some other members on this forum would atest to whom have had the pleasure of having my tool box out to fix their cars as mine doesnt generally breakdown due to the fact that I maintain it and drive it according to the amount of money I have for repairs which isnt all that much.

I havnt had a car (that Ive chosen to own) on a tow truck for about 10 years and it was a VL commodore with a blown head gasket although I had an AU ute which had a couple of trips on a towtruck due to it blowing transmissions due to the Ford stealer not fitting the right parts (as in a trans cooler) when they were instructed to by Ford aust but thats a different story.

So what your saying is that because you didnt do your research before posting Im now to be a "NOI-T4L" or No it all to anyone that might struggle to work out his insult.

For the record, at any stage that you disagree with me or you know Im wrong then post that instead of stupid child like insults and proove me wrong and I will appologise.

It wouldnt be the first time that I have and everyone can get the wrong idea of how things work sometimes espesially when they dont work on a specific machine/vehical all the time.

    And money doesnt mean anything..........

If this is true then Im happy im sticking with my 300TDI with the original radiator that I will more than likely need to be replacing on day.

Sorry to be rubbing it in but there you go, Im still correct or as correct as these other members are anyway.
