    Just a quick one,

If you buy a new vehicle from Land Rover you also get break down service, (world wide coverage). I have spoken to LRA and they informed me, Yes, this is world wide coverage. I had to use it once about 400 kms North of Perth after a trip from Perth to Alice-Darwin -Broome (about 9000kms) in a 2003 TD5 Defender. I noticed oil leaking from the engine bay, had a look and thought what the hey, if they are going to fix why should I. A tow truck was sent from Geraldton, but before he got there I realised the oil filter was loose (last seviced by Land Rover).

As I was speaking to the driver of the tow truck, he said all they do is take the broken car to Perth and bring you a fresh one (no charge), and return yours when it is fixed to where ever you are on your trip.

I also have a 300tdi 130 and my theory is if you cant get the parts for either you are stuffed. I do a lot of travelling through out the North West and in this day and age you are never really isolated if you take a Sat Phone (which you can hire).

So new one/old one, Monday/Wednesday/Friday build, Lemon or not, just enjoy your trip and do some good prep work, if that involves break down coverage so be it!

due to emission control regulations being tighter on the td5 than the tdi but thats due to the age.... Newer engines must pass tighter and tighter emission laws. Help us all if they ever decide that all engines must pass the current regs.

you can do more to a 2.25 out of a series than you can on a tdi200 which you can do more to than a tdi300 which you can do more to than a TD5....

But at the end of the day the TD5 will make more power more reliabley and at less cost than any of the preceeding engines..

Id hate to try and get the full noise of a td5 out of a IIA diesel..
