Two questions really:
Background:
I got a local "Custom" exhaust place to fabricate a new Y piece for my exhaust and fit the used extractors and exhaust end that I acquired.
I asked them to make all flange and bolt joints, (not of this push fit n clamp)
1. I looked at the welding today, two pics show one extractor flange joint seam welded but only about half way around, the other extractor flange is spot welded only but show signs of some welding around the flange, maybe inside?
Is this common practice / normal?
2. The other pic is the exhaust and rear UJ yes it is that close I guess maybe 5-6mm I'm a bit concerned about the joint hitting the exhaust.
Is this common practice / normal?
Oh and one exhaust support is bolted on with a bolt and no nylock or split washer which makes me think they just can't be Ars**.
Am I wrong?

Those exhaust joints will leak. Weld them now while they are clean.
The pipe is, in my opinion, too close to the UJ. Any movement will see them touch - and you will get movement.

When you take it back and get them to do the whole lot again (at no charge to yourself) remember to inform them as well that the vehicle gets used off road and the UJ will move.
And remember to insist on a discount being re inburst to you for wasting your valuable time.
agreed go back get it done right at their expense..
better yet tear half of it off on the UJ and go back on friday arvo 10 mins before knock off and demand it be fixed correctly...

That is a X'mas Eve specialTake it back DEMAND it be correctly done or you will notify Transport Dept, as having a leaking exhaust is an offence, not only is it noisey but it will leak noctious gases. also the heat from the exhaust being that close to the UJ will destroy the grease in it and lead to UJ failure. if they won't fix, refund in full or channel 9-7

That is damn rough work, and poor quality welds to boot, that is the welds they bothered to do. I note also the reduced diameter bend in the third photo. This causes restriction. Always insist on full diameter bends. Some people call them mandrel bent. If the shop is not capable of bending tube at full diameter then they are either not competent or not properly equipped.

Looking closely at the flanges it may well be they are internally welded and the welds on the outside are for location purposes only. I do agree that it runs to close to the uni joint. Dont agree with there being a problem with the diameter of the bend and being restrictive ( sure there is a difference but is it going to be performance reducing in this instand)

I am with blaze here - they may be welded on the inside. No harm in asking. As to pipe change in diameter on the bend - I don't think that'd be an issue. Look at the diameter of pipe near the flanges in question. From your photos it looks like they are reduced as well.
