Mine stays as cool as it starts up at. I very rarely run mine above the first speed as I find myself freezing.
Mine does not do what yours seems to be.

I've had no problem with my A/C. (still trying to get the oil leak in vacumn pump fixed though) Have you checked to make sure that the heater is turned off completely? I had the same problem in a GQ patrol and it was the heater not turning off
no i know what your saying solmanic as ours does it too
gets to a point then suddenly stops blowing ice cold air and just cold air you can feel them temp change
we too only have ours running on the first speed
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Great, sounds like a repeat situation of the last model!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!
Not happy Jan.
Probably Leaking hoses causing a lack of evaporator efficiency due to low gas charge/ pressure. Mine(RR) did the same thing before a loose hose connection was found and tightened, a re gas and 13months later still puuurfect. Just had the LSE done, new compressor fitted (after the old one 'caught fire' during the regas)and some hose work and it too is icy cold. Happy wife=happy life, as they say!

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Just as a point of interest regarding to fan speed.
Assuming your air con is working properly - at low fan speed the air leaving the vents will be colder than at high fan speed.
This is due to the fact that the air is moving slower across the coil - and thus has more time to absorb more heat - plus of course it also removes more moisture from the air -
I would never recommend running on the lowest speed for long periods as if there ever is a fault due to a leak - evaporators can freeze - and split.
Freezing the coil - will reduce the air flow through the coil, and the air will 'go around' the coil and not be cooled, so you may be freezing the coil causing the lack of performance.
I would recommend that you get the gas charge checked - and if that is okay - just never run it on the low fan speed.
Sorry a little bit off thread, but still relevant (Just)![]()

I have actually used that once before - got a nice Volvo S40 to drive around in for a week-end.
I am assuming that since they didn't even start to fix it, the clause doesn't apply ... yet. This turned out to be an exploratory inspection for them to determine if (a) it was in fact not working and (b) what the extent of the fix was.
When I collected the car they informed me that they had another one with the exact same problem that had just been in. Yes - it is over-cooling until it freezes. The detailed explaination was something like "there's a problem with the evaporator and it is sending the wrong signal to the ECU so it keeps cooling until it freezes rather than cutting out at about 7 degrees where it's supposed to" - or something - my eyes glazed over while he was explaining it.
No doubt they will rip out and replace the entire system - that's usually what they do![]()
My 98 Defender did same, freezing first up then no good at all. The sensor was dislodged so the unit went flat out not knowing it was cooling, until it froze initially then after some time we could use it again and it would freeze (again). Sensor fixed and it has been good since.
Regards,
By the way, recently mine decided not to get cold at all ...
I suspect it needs re-gassing. Any easy way to check to see if this is indeed the case ??
Cheers
