    Quick help - Internal width of a D1 v D2?

I am looking at buying some roller drawers which have come out of a D1 and am hoping to fit them into my D2, but, it would appear that my '99 D2 may be narrower then the D1.

Drawers measure 1270mm accross (side to side) but my D2 side to side measurues 1130mm and has the internal buckets so I basically have a constant 1130mm side to side, from door edge to back of seats.....if that makes sense. Can anyone confirm any of these D1 & D2 sizes for me and let me know if I am missing something.

I thought that the D2 had a larger boot space in every dimension over the D1

    Any help appreciated.

They do, but it's the pockets that are bigger that make the floor space narrower the D2 is wider above the pockets/storage bins or seats if fitted.

I would expect the door apeture to be the same or similar on both the D1 & 2 though? Happy to loose my bins to fit the drawers, but if I cannot even get them past the door opening, no amount of wishful thinking will get them in........save for a hack saw

They will be too short for a D2 as for width/ height i would think there isnt much between the 2 apart from the bulky side pockets of the D2, i have a D2 cargo barrier in my D1 and it fits perfectly.

Yep, I had to trim my DI shelving to fit the width of the DII. The DI shelves are shorter length-ways in the DII. It was worth the modification rather than getting a new set of shelves etc.

Yeah, the shortness will actually be okay as my milford full height cargo barrier has been fitted not as snuggly against the rear seats as I would have liked, so, I lose some depth in the rear cargo area. Not much, but enough to rule out fitting a standard D2 set of roller drawers.

Frustrating, as I think these drawers would be good but if they measure 1270mm across, and I only have 1130mm then they simply wont fit.

Anyone out there fitted a D1 Outback roller drawer system to a D2 and can shed some light on this conundrum

The D1 & D2 doors are the excactly the same, it's the only thing that's the same on both cars, only the lock is different, so the drawers should fit.

That is what I thought, although the width of the drawers in question (which are currently in a D1) are 1270mm but the width of the narrowest point (just inside the door seals) in my D2 is 1130mm.....some 140mm difference Unless I am missing something, there is no way these drawers are fitting inside my D2 any time soon.

Would love it if they did fit as they are pretty much what I am chasing

Not missing anything on the D1 measurements. I checked mine and it is exactly 1270 pocket to pocket. The narrowest part of the tailgate opening is 1200 so they must have to be slid in at an angle then dropped down.

If the D2 opening is similar, you should be able to trim the top to fit the D2. (Provided it doesn't interfere with the drawer runners)

Have considered this but really not willing to part with my cash and then hack the thing to pieces and bodge the thing in.

    Will keep looking
