Slightly different td5 fuel problem...?
I don't believe my problem is my fuel pump, but I'm sure someone else would know better
I usually drive until the about 40-90kms after the fuel light comes on... The most I've put in my tank is about 73L, on average about 68L.
The fuel light came on recently, so I continued driving. About 30km later, the car just died... instantly. No restart, nothing. Before the engine died, the gauge was just in the last bar of the dial... I've driven it 10km when it was below the last bar of the dial. I put some more diesel in, reprime and it fires straight away... I then fuel up (to full) and I figure I've put in 65L (total). I tried to squeeze as much as I could in... so by my reckoning, there was about 10L (let's say 7L to be safe) left in the tank. Not an insignificant amount...
The fuel pump makes no strange sounds at all. It did make a gurgling noise when it wouldn't start... like it couldn't pick anything up... so I'm a little confused...
Is there something that could block the last 7L being picked up by the pump?
or
Did I just run out of fuel?
Cheers.
